A baby should ideally between 6 and 14 days when n A baby should ideally between 6 and 14 days when newborn pictures are taken. Why so early? They are still very sleepy and like to scrunch and curl up still. This can also vary depending on how baby and or mom is doing. Another thing I take into consideration is baby's weight. I have a warm studio, use gentle posing, white noise, plenty of patience, and I'm an experienced newborn photographer. All of that help create those peaceful, sleepy images you love.
